Davida is a Labor Executive and serves as the State President of the Coalition of Labor Union Women, Vice President of the Ohio AFL-CIO, APSE/AFSCME Local 4/AFL-CIO, Northeast Ohio President and State Executive Board Member, and Executive Secretary/Treasurer of the North Coast Area Labor Federation. In these positions, she represents more than 180,000 members across Ohio and 10,000 in Northeast Ohio. She serves as a Commission Member of the Cuyahoga County Charter Review Commission and an Executive Board Member of the Gateway Economic Development Corporation of Greater Cleveland.
In 2021, Davida was re-elected to her second term as Cleveland Heights City Councilwoman. She has a long history of service, including 20 years as president and administrator of OAPSE/AFSCME Local 744 and State Vice President of OAPSE Local 4. Appointed by Governor Ted Strickland to the Ohio Board of Commission of MR/DD, she has also served nationally on President Clinton’s Women’s Round Table of Greater Cleveland and the Biden-Harris transition committee. Since her election in 2019, Davida has been instrumental in various community initiatives, such as creating the “You Talk I Listen” forum, earmarking funds for distressed areas, and passing legislation for the Crown Act and racial justice. She has advocated for a 311-call center, the Pro Act, infill housing development, and the 2020 census. Davida promotes homeownership, provides free first aid courses, and has developed playgrounds and splash pads. She continues to lead as CEO of “Ohio Alliance for Community Education,” organizing and educating her community. Recognized in multiple editions of Who’s Who, she is a graduate of Cleveland State Labor-Management Relations Center Program, Leadership Cleveland, and George Meany National Labor College. Davida is a proud labor leader, City Councilwoman, school bus driver, substitute teacher, CEO, wife of 46 years, mother of two daughters, and grandmother of three.
