Ms. Geraldine Hayes Nelson possesses her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University.  She has served in various leadership roles, from Associate
Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Assistant Vice-President  for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Executive Director, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, to her current Executive Director Employee Engagement and Outreach.

She is an educator whose is proactive in engaging higher education and  Ohio citizens at all levels in working together for change and issues to  address discrimination, and social injustice.  As a community leader, she  has provided service in various community-based organizations and  has received numerous awards. She is a strong advocate on issues concerning single parents, women, young people, and diversity initiatives.

Dr. Geraldine Hayes Nelson is the Portage County NAACP President.
